battered in first half

When we play in Lancs Cup, there's provisions for match scoring and game play to support fun and engagement as a result games are clipped to certain score lines, in our case it's 6 clear tries. Unfortunately, Burnley were laser focused on this particular goal, and stepped on the field with conviction and determination to accomplish this goal. They did, convincingly. Well Done Burnley!

Our boys were notified of the score line ( and impact) and we decided to keep things as they were, record the Lancs Cup score and then play on.

Second half was a much better game, not sure whether the half time chat, or what, but the boys finally woke up. Burnley still made yards and put a couple more over the line, but it was definitely Rossendale's half, maybe the fatigue in playing to the Cup Try cut off and then relaxing I don’t know?

Rossendale were good in the second half, plenty more support, some real good clearing out of rucks, definite signs of playing the ball wide and some great break thru's when Hugo got hold of the ball and steamed forward to the line.

Very well done Will, a super try and well fought for! One to be proud of!

Oliver Dutton putting in a good show, receiving the ball and mixing it up in breakdowns. More of this please!

Fin's physicality is really showing and it would be great to have four more Fins on the pitch, very good ball in hand, very good tackling, some BIG hits, and always playing his part in scrums. Good job!

Ethan F and Mac putting in some great work, pace is superb, on other days these runs have resulted in good tries and names on the scoreboard.

Kyle probably a bit game rusty put in some super work, just a shame there was not continuity, due to fitness. We can always rely on Kyle for some great rucking and he performed well.

James and George doing well, keeping their heads down but a good contribution, a little more confidence on the ball and getting stuck in and we will see just how good we know you both are. George 2nd maybe next year we can look to a more permanent spot across in scrum half? Let’s see...

Fraser and Ethan T again doing a good job, good effort in and around the breakdowns, would be great to see a bit of fire in the eyes and a bit more movement around the breakdowns putting your names on the ball and your stamp on the game. Both can certainly ball carry and cause problems for defense and we saw flashes of this at Burnley.

Joey and Rhys, really doing the lion’s share of the work bringing down some of the giants on the Burnley side, really gutsy performances and taking some really large hits as Burnley soon figured out our great all-rounders with dangerous pace and set about flattening them.

Bailey and Hugo caused their stirs in bashing about in the breakdowns, Hugo's clearing was good for a change rather than static.., Bailey signature hand-off's and break were good too, both boys always manage to ball carry break the defensive lines and drive forward for space up the field, both boys did well gaining many yards for the team.

Try scorers Hugo (4) Will (1) Mac (2) (Sorry if I missed anyone, or some of the details)
