In Dale’s second game against Sedgeley Park Dale started where they left off in the Hoppers Game with strong forward play and great handling by the backs and it wasn’t long before Will Gledhill danced through the Sedgeley Park defence to score, Converted by Callum Wheelan. Dale were much the stronger side but tiring quickly and let Sedgeley Park back into the game by some sloppy defence. This try was unconverted leaving it 7-5 to Dale at half time.
The second half started and Rossendale kicked off straight to the player who had previously left the team for dead and he duly obliged in running the length of the field to score another unconverted try 10-7 to Sedgeley Park.
From the restart the Dale side started to get back on top and with powerful forward play and eventually Man of the Match Joe Simpson barged his way over for a try converted by Callum Wheelan.
The Dale side looked tired but in control but Sedgeley Park had other idea’s ringing the changes with their squad of twenty was too much to ask and the fresh legs put Sedgeley on the front foot and then took the lead with a converted try leaving the score at 17 – 14 to Sedgeley.
Rossendale took the play to Sedgeley Park and desperately attack the line but could not cross it and eventually spilled the ball for the Park lads to run the length of the field to seal the win.
The score line was unjust and with a full squad this would have been a different story, but credit must be given to the lads who stepped up to the mark today and proves we are really starting to gel as a side and things are looking rosy for the next twelve months.
