The final score was 2-5 to Littleborough but the match itself was much closer than the score suggests.

After all the rain over the last few months and just one match of late, the kids really needed another match. Playing littleborough is always a great point in the season as these two groups of lads have played each other many times of the years and use the match as a measure of where they are at.

The Rossendale team had 3 under 11's helping out so thanks go to Ryan, Sean and Spencer. Thanks also go Vinney who volunteered to pull on a Littleborough shirt to help them out for the first 10 minutes.

For each 10 minute period of the match the lads would be in a different positions on the field to help their understanding of the game and their skills. This made for a lot of very quick on the job learning for which the lads deserve a lot of praise. All of the lads had great games but a few stand out moments include :

Playing your position : If you are on the wing or playing full back etc. the key is to play that role and let your team mates play theirs. It takes a great rugby brain and real rugby maturity to do that when at times you may be nowhere near the play. Elijah, Jack, and Luke did this to perfection. Elijah in particular kept his position out wide and could of had a hatrick of tries had the ball made it out wide. Being in position also allowed Elijah to catch littleborough's high ball, turn and evade the on running player, a delightful move. For all of his work today Elijah picked up MoTM.

Tackling & Jackling : All of the players at times made great tackles but some stand out tackles came from Ryan (U11), Rowan & Jason. Once the tackle is made the secondary skill is to get up to your feet and jackel for the ball, Rowan did this very well and with almost every tackle. It often resulted in turnover ball but if not then it at least slowed down the attacking play.

Kick and Chase : From the kick off or when kicking to clear then Ieuan, Ryan (12) and Harry would be the first to get to the tackler. This puts pressure on the opposition catcher and can leave them isolated at the back.

As mentioned every player had a great game, the above is just a small snapshot of the match. The swapping of players and positions has given the coaches a lot of info on what to do in training to help the team develop so well done to everyone.
