A slightly depleted U12's squad made the trip up the M6 and across the new satnav confusing bypass to Vale's ground basking in sunshine.
A great morning saw the team win their group against mighty Fylde by two tries to nil and then Garstang B four tries to nil. Some quick thinking, sharp execution and a great 'have a go' spirit - well done boys.
Unfortunately the curse of the long lunch break came next...
Eventually the boys got to go again against Garstang A and another spirited game saw a narrow loss by two tries to one. A bigger challenge came from Liverpool Collegiate (eventual tournament winners) who outplayed and over powered us as the boys began to tire in the heat and without fresh legs to replace them. Sefton finished things off in the final match.
A great day out and loads for the team to be proud of: new recruits, improving players, challenges of playing unusual positions for some, the constant physicality of the opponents - really well done!
And thanks to Vale for hosting a great event again.
