Dukinfield U12s 0 – 49 Rossendale U12s

The Rossendale U12s went over to Dukinfield on the back of a heavy defeat at the hands of West Park St Helens, so were up for it and for a looking for a good result.

After an even first 5 minutes, Dale opened up the game with a few phases of play, recycling the ball well until Luke Bartram went over for Dale’s first of five tries in the first half, all converted nicely by PJ Butler. Three more Dale tries followed in the next 5 minutes, scored by Ben Ludlam and two by Isaac Cornwall. With the clock approaching half time, Jordan Fortune stole the ball on Dale ‘s own try line and ran the length the field to score to end the half nil-35 in Dale’s favour.

However, the Dukinfield lads didn’t give up and came out in the second half with more aggression and organisation to make it much harder for Dale. The home team had several chances, but the superb tackling from the Dale defence kept them out. Further tries from Max Lyth and Ciaran Campbell, both converted by PJ Butler, ended the game Dukinfield 0 – 49 Rossendale U12s.

The Rossendale Man of the Match was awarded to Sam Irving, for his commitment, effort and presence all around the field.

Today’s performance shows what the lads can do when they work together – there was always support available and we managed to retain the ball well on the back of them. And probably the biggest factor today was the tackling; it was immense! Well done lads!!
