Seconds come from behind and grind out another win over in Fylde in an exhilarating finish .

Give me a reason why we shouldnt boast that we are joint top of the league with Chester and Caldy on 30 points each while we can .
Okay , when the other results are uploaded to the league we remain in 4th but in a very strong 4th position . But doesn't it look good !

Great win for Rossendale in an epic encounter.

Rossendale RUFC Second team had the ominous task of travelling to the Fylde coast last Saturday for a fixture against one of the North Wests "big" clubs. The Dale team were full of confidence however after a terrific start to the season and were in no mood to rollover and end a good run of form based on their reputation alone.
From kick off both teams gave no quarter with both defences holding firm. Fylde eventually broke the duck and soon after went in for a second try with the conversion taking them into a 12 - 0 lead . Their joy was short lived as Rossendale fought back with a try by Matt Ringland but the tables turned again only minutes later when Fylde scored a further converted try. If we all thought that might be enough excitement as half time approached it wasnt to be and right on the whistle in a welcome return from pre season injury that young whippersnapper Marcus Yates conjured up some magic to get his name on the score sheet and AJ Potgieter added the extras to go into the break only 19-12 down.
The second half started much the same as the first with both sides trading attacks but defences in control until the 66th minute when Fylde were awarded a penalty to take the score to 22-12.
With only 8 minutes left on the clock and the game seeming to have ebbed away for Rossendale that man Big Ringers popped up once again to record his second of the day and AJ added a further two points .
Into the last few minutes of the game Rossendale were still pushing forward and looking good for it in home sides 22 . As Rossendale pressed the moves towards the Fylde line a pass out wide was intercepted by a Fylde defender who took off some 60 yards down field with no one in front of him. What he didnt reckon on was the flying winger Johnny go Johnny go go go Dutton who not only chased him down field coming diagonally from the opposite side of the pitch but effected a match saving tackle by disrupting the offload to a Fylde supporting player causing him to fumble the ball thus giving Rossendale the possession at the scrum.
Rossendale buoyed on by the efforts of the tackler brought the ball back up field and it was the stand off on the day Kane Bevan , another making a comeback after a prolonged time on the sides who slipped his marker and put Rossendale in front for the first time in the game . AJ's conversion of the try made the score 26-22 to Dale which is how the game soon ended . What a game , what a win.
People were still too breathless following the game for any post match comments so we didnt bother to ask .
Of note during the match was the defence of Rossendale particularly in the second half denying the home side any further scoring bar the penalty kick and the try saving tackle by Dutton to save the day.
Joe Robertson Maher put in a big shift as well for Rossendale as he does time in time out.
This Saturday sees Rossendale with a home tie in a doiuble header league and cup match versus Caldy with a 3pm kick off. A very interesting game awaits with Caldy consistently topping the league for a good number of years but with Dale showing some great character this season and with the players they have available it should make a very good spectacle to watch.
One final word and its a big shout out to Anita Dutton who is constantly wandering around the pitch with her camera , no she isnt photographing flora and fauna but providing some very good pictures from throughout the games which are all uploaded on to our pitchero sites for us to browse through ,look on and admire. Thanks Anita.
